About the Role
Abantu Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Auto Electrician to join our Vehicle Maintenance Department in Port Elizabeth. As an integral part of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems on earthmoving equipment. If you have a strong background in auto electrical work and excellent communication skills, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults on vehicles and equipment
- Troubleshoot electronic systems (ECUs, sensors, etc.)
- Install, maintain, and repair wiring, alternators, starters, and lighting systems
- Attend to breakdowns and carry out on-site/field repairs when required
- Test vehicles/equipment after repairs to ensure proper functioning
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams
- Always wear correct PPE and follow safety procedures
- Comply with Health & Safety regulations and company policies
- Ensure compliance with OHSA and site safety standards
- Work together with mechanical teams during repairs and rebuilds
- Communicate repair work and findings with management
- Complete job cards and maintain accurate service records
- Estimate repair time and report on work required
- Participate in training and development initiatives
Requirements
- Be a trade-tested Artisan as an Auto Electrician
- Working knowledge and understanding of diesel engines
- Have 3-5 years of work experience
- A minimum of a Matric certificate
- Ability to communicate in English fluently (both written and oral)
