About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic – Ready Mix to join our team at Abantu Staffing Solutions. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of ready-mix concrete trucks, batching plant equipment, and associated machinery. Your primary focus will be on minimizing downtime and supporting continuous production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on: Ready-mix concrete trucks, Batching plant equipment, Diesel engines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and perform effective repairs
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance
  • Inspect vehicles and plant for safety, reliability, and compliance
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
  • Attend to breakdowns on-site and in the field as required
  • Ensure workshop tools and equipment are properly maintained
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Communicate equipment status to drivers, plant operators, and supervisors
  • Identify required parts and assist with stock control

Requirements

  • Grade 12/ Matric
  • Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Mechanic or equivalent (Advantageous)
  • Proven experience working with ready-mix concrete trucks or heavy commercial vehicles and Batching plants or similar industrial equipment
  • Sound knowledge of Diesel engines, Hydraulics and pneumatics, Electrical fault-finding
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Valid drivers license (Code 10 or Code 14 advantageous)
  • Willingness to work overtime and attend breakdowns when required
