Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our luxury 5-star safari lodge in Botswana. As a senior leadership position, you will be responsible for the full operational, financial, and strategic management of the lodge, ensuring world-class guest experiences, strong team leadership, financial sustainability, and alignment with conservation and community initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with staff, guests, government departments, local communities, and industry partners
  • Lead and drive corporate social responsibility and community development initiatives
  • Ensure operational efficiency through cost control, quality management, and use of local produce
  • Oversee HR policies, procedures, and compliance across all departments
  • Manage and enhance guest experience across accommodation, dining, and activities
  • Oversee maintenance and performance of operational assets (vehicles, generators, buildings, equipment)
  • Drive sustainability practices and ensure continuous improvement across operations
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance in line with business goals
  • Lead training and development to uphold exceptional service standards
  • Host VIP guests, agents, and media, ensuring high-level representation of the lodge
  • Take overall responsibility for the smooth and effective running of the property

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a General Manager in a 5-star lodge or luxury hospitality environment
  • Strong background in operations, guest experience, staff leadership, and financial management
  • Qualification in Hospitality or Business Management advantageous
  • Strong financial and computer literacy skills
  • Confident, professional, and guest-facing leadership style
  • Calm under pressure with excellent decision-making ability
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Passion for luxury hospitality, conservation, and community development

Qualifications

  • Formal education/certifications (e.g. Bachelor’s or LLB degree) in Hospitality or Business Management
