Job Description

Meridian Wine Distribution is seeking a Team Leader | Shift Supervisor based in Gauteng to lead and supervise a team of Material Handlers, ensuring effective task delegation and continuous monitoring of the picking process to meet operational targets. The role requires hands-on involvement on the warehouse floor, supporting daily operations, maintaining productivity and accuracy standards, and leading by example to drive team performance and adherence to company procedures. Responsibility includes: Lead a team of warehouse staff and warehouse workload – ensuring that that work is being performed according to picking plan and SOP. Effectively delegate work to team with clearing defined deadlines in order to manage workflow within the warehouse. Monitor and allocate outstanding orders including: Collections Courier orders Local outstanding deliveries. Makro orders Assist Material handlers as needed in finding stock and setting a good example. Monitor picking for team as per picking plan. Ensure effective communication of established procedures and regulations within the warehouse according to SOP and Health and Safety act. Communicate with Orders team on unavailable vintages and vintage changes, action changes as required. Ensure checking takes places for all orders. Correct any discrepancies on orders after checking has taken place. Print out warehouse shipment once order is complete for checking purposes. Notify Warehouse Supervisor when load is ready for invoices and delivery notes to be printed. Assist Warehouse Supervisor in ensuring that warehouse staff adhere to housekeeping regulations within the warehouse during picking to avoid breakages and damages. Monitoring the cleanliness of the warehouse and isles always kept clear. Assist in monitoring your team that they comply with the Occupations Health and Safety Act within the warehouse. Take full responsibility for the continuous development of leadership capability by growing leadership skills and knowledge, as well as participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organisations etc. This also includes participating in all leadership focused training and development initiatives presented by the company. Take full responsibility for performance management of all direct reports, managing their performance in relation to quality standards and agreed benchmarks and objectives. This entails motivating, inspiring and supporting employees to drive high morale within team. Compliance with reporting requirements across all aspects of sound people management: Recruitment Development Remuneration and Rewards Performance Management Career path planning On-the-job training, coaching & mentoring IR issues Ensure team adherence to relevant policies and procedures. Ensure appropriate levels of management and accountability. Motivate, delegate and empower direct reports appropriately, enabling them to take responsibility and display creativity and initiative. Follow through to ensure that personal quality and productivity standards are consistently and accurately maintained. Plan and prioritize, demonstrating abilities to manage competing demands. Demonstrate ability to anticipate and manage change effectively. Demonstrate flexibility in balancing achievement of own objectives with the ability to understand and respond to organisational needs.
