HR & Payroll Manager | Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal
A prominent diagnostics and healthcare group is seeking a hands-on, strategic HR & Payroll Manager to lead their HR department in Amanzimtoti. This role requires a unique blend of high-level organizational strategy and deep-dive operational excellence, acting as a crucial “player-coach” who can lead a generalist team while remaining the primary custodian of end-to-end payroll and industrial relations functions.
Key Performance Areas:

End-to-End Payroll & Benefits Administration: Manage the full payroll cycle using Payspace and Pastel Payroll across multiple companies. Act as the primary liaison between staff and service providers for Medical Aid and Pension schemes.

Strategic Management & Leadership: Work directly with Senior and Executive Management to align HR initiatives with overarching business goals, advising leadership on workforce planning and task alignment.

Compliance, Skills Development & EE: Drive recruitment strategies that strictly align with the companys Employment Equity Plan and transformation targets. Formulate and submit the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) while overseeing HWSETA requirements.

Employee & Industrial Relations: Act as the official company representative during union negotiations and consultative meetings. Manage all CCMA proceedings, including preparation, to protect company interests and uphold labor law. Assist the organization heavily with restructuring processes and Section 189 procedures.
Minimum Requirements:

Education: A degree in Human Resources or a related field.

Experience: * Minimum of 5 years of working experience in a Human Resources Manager role.

Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience running a full payroll function from start to finish on Pastel Payroll, ESS, and Payspace (essential).

Technical & Industry Knowledge: Strong operational experience in Industrial Relations (IR), Section 189 processes, CCMA representation, and labor laws. Sound knowledge of HWSETA administration, WSP/ATR submissions, and employee wellness initiatives.

Attributes: High emotional resilience (“thick-skinned”), strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record of instilling workplace discipline.

Logistics: Fully based in-person in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal.
