Role Overview
A well-established Managed Services Provider in Gqeberha is seeking an experienced and self-driven Senior IT Technician to join their technical team.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role suited to a confident technician who enjoys troubleshooting, solving problems, and working across multiple client environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day support, maintenance, administration, and optimisation of client IT infrastructure, including servers, Microsoft 365 environments, desktops, backups, and networking systems.
The role requires someone who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver a consistently high level of technical support and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, migrate, and upgrade Windows Server environments.
- Administer Active Directory environments, including users, groups, Group Policies, and DNS.
- Manage server backups, restores, and disaster recovery processes.
- Administer Microsoft 365 tenants, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and licensing.
- Provide second- and third-line desktop support across Windows environments.
- Troubleshoot printers, software, drivers, Windows updates, and general endpoint issues.
- Diagnose and repair hardware faults, including RAM, storage, and peripheral upgrades.
- Monitor client systems using remote management and monitoring tools.
- Respond proactively to alerts and technical issues.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, and incident records.
- Engage directly with clients both remotely and on-site.
- Participate in infrastructure projects, migrations, rollouts, and upgrades.
- Provide mentorship and technical support to junior technicians where required.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in IT Support or Systems Administration.
- Previous exposure to Managed Services Provider (MSP) environments advantageous.
- Strong experience with Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022 or later).
- Solid Active Directory administration experience.
- Experience with backup and recovery solutions such as Veeam, Acronis, or similar.
- Strong Microsoft 365 administration skills.
- Advanced Windows desktop support experience.
- Hardware troubleshooting and upgrade experience.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, and firewall basics.
- Knowledge of endpoint protection, patch management, and general IT security practices.
- Valid South African drivers licence and own reliable transport.
- Based in or able to commute to Gqeberha reliably.
Advantageous Skills & Experience
- Microsoft Azure and cloud infrastructure exposure.
- Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD experience.
- Microsoft Intune and endpoint management knowledge.
- Experience with RMM and monitoring tools such as NinjaOne, Datto RMM, N-able, or ConnectWise.
- Exposure to firewall technologies such as Sophos, FortiGate, or MikroTik.
- Virtualisation experience with Hyper-V or VMware.
- VoIP support experience advantageous.

Qualifications
- Matric / Grade 12.
- Relevant IT qualifications or certifications advantageous, including:
- CompTIA A+ / N+
- Microsoft Certifications
- AZ-104
- MS-102
- MCSE / MCSA or equivalent

- Willingness to travel between client sites.
- Willingness to work overtime or after-hours when required.
- Willingness to undergo criminal and credit background checks.
