Role Purpose The Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all procurement activities within the organisation. The role focuses on ensuring the efficient sourcing, purchasing, and supply of goods and services across multiple operational areas including MRP, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Water Tube, Package Boilers, and Energy Management. The incumbent is accountable for driving cost efficiencies, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring that procurement processes support operational requirements and business objectives. The position also requires effective leadership of the procurement team, ensuring performance standards are met while maintaining compliance with internal systems and procedures. Key Responsibilities Procurement Operations Management Oversee and manage the end-to-end procurement function to ensure operational efficiency and continuity. Manage daily procurement activities across all operational areas. Conduct daily MRP/ERP analysis and provide regular status updates. Expedite due and overdue orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services. Maintain and manage the Electronic Purchase Requisition system and Syspro processes. Review and approve demand-based Purchase Orders in line with requirements. Supplier & Stakeholder Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Manage communication with suppliers, internal departments, and branches. Conduct supplier selection and adjudication processes. Perform market research to identify alternative suppliers and sourcing opportunities. Review scope of supply requirements and determine optimal sourcing strategies. Cost Management & Negotiation Drive cost efficiency and value through strategic sourcing and negotiation. Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with suppliers to reduce costs. Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs). Ensure procurement decisions align with budgetary and operational requirements. International Procurement & Logistics Manage international procurement activities and logistics coordination. Oversee international purchasing processes. Coordinate freight and logistics to ensure timely delivery. Team Leadership & Performance Management Lead and manage the procurement team to achieve departmental objectives. Manage and monitor procurement staff performance on a daily basis. Provide guidance, support, and development to team members. Ensure team alignment with organisational goals and procurement strategies. Administration & Systems Management Ensure accurate administration and effective use of procurement systems. Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation. Ensure compliance with ERP system processes (Syspro preferred). Monitor and improve procurement processes and system utilisation. Role Requirements Qualifications BSc or BEng Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or BCom in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Procurement. Experience Minimum 5 years procurement management experience within industrial manufacturing, repairs and services, or maintenance environments. Minimum 5 years experience managing teams and delivering through others. Experience working with ERP systems (Syspro preferred). Technical Competencies Proficiency in Office 365 and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams). Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and procurement processes. Knowledge of international procurement and logistics coordination. Ability to analyse procurement data and drive operational improvements. Behavioural Competencies Strong managerial and leadership capability. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Strong negotiation and influencing ability. Highly organised with the ability to multi-task effectively. Results-driven with a strong focus on meeting deadlines. Customer service-oriented with high levels of accountability. Energetic, proactive, and willing to learn and grow. Strong team player with the ability to manage and deliver through others. Additional Requirements Willingness to travel locally and internationally as required. Ability to work additional hours when operationally required.
