About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Boring Mill Operator to join our team in Benoni, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating horizontal and vertical boring mills, performing precision boring, drilling, facing, and threading operations, as well as conducting preventive maintenance and basic trouble shooting of boring mills.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate horizontal and vertical boring mills (manual and CNC)
- Perform precision boring, drilling, facing, and threading operations
- Select, mount, and maintain appropriate tooling and cutting inserts
- Adjust feeds, speeds, and cutting parameters for different materials (steel, stainless steel, cast iron)
- Conduct preventive maintenance and basic trouble shooting of boring mills
- Proficiently use precision measuring instruments
- Ensure dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements are met
- Maintain accurate inspection and job records
- Assist in continuous improvement of machining processes
Requirements
- Matric or NQF Level 4 Relevant technical experience
- Apprenticeship completed
- Trade tested
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T requirements
