Job Description
The CNC / EDM Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines including milling, turning, and EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) equipment. The role involves producing precision parts to exact specifications while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC milling, turning, and wire EDM machines according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.
- Program CNC machines or assist with programming as required.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for machining operations.
- Monitor machining processes to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to production schedules.
- Perform inspections on finished parts using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines).
- Maintain machines, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace in compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to optimize production processes
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of CNC milling, turning, and EDM wire cutting operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD/CAM files.
- Precision measurement skills and attention to detail.
- Problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of machining materials (steel, aluminum, alloys, etc.) and their machining properties.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
Qualifications:
- Relevant technical qualification or trade certification in machining, metalworking, or mechanical engineering.
- Proven experience with CNC milling, turning, and EDM wire cutting.
- Familiarity with CNC programming (G-code) is advantageous.
