About the Role
The Used Car Manager at The Talent Room is responsible for overseeing all operations within the pre-owned vehicle department, including sales performance, stock sourcing, pricing, and profitability. This position leads the sales team, manages vehicle procurement and appraisals, and ensures vehicles are market-ready and competitively priced. It also focuses on customer satisfaction, compliance, and achieving dealership financial targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and drive used vehicle sales performance to achieve monthly and annual targets
- Source, appraise, and procure quality used vehicle stock
- Monitor stock levels, ageing, and pricing to maximise profitability
- Lead, motivate, and develop the used car sales team
- Structure deals, oversee negotiations, and ensure optimal gross profit
- Build relationships with suppliers, auctions, and trade partners
- Ensure vehicles are reconditioned, merchandised, and showroom-ready
- Oversee compliance, documentation, and F&I processes
- Analyze sales reports, market trends, and competitor pricing
- Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve escalations
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Used Car Manager or Senior Used Vehicle Sales Executive
- Strong track record in achieving sales and profit targets
- Stock sourcing and appraisal experience
- Leadership and team management capability
- Strong negotiation and deal-structuring skills
- Valid driver’s licence
- Motor industry systems knowledge (e.g., AutoTrader, TransUnion, CMS)
