Job Description

Minimum Requirements

  • B.Tech / B.Eng / BSc in Civil Engineering (NQF Level 8)
  • Valid medical fitness for mine site work
  • 8–10 years’ relevant experience

Advantageous

  • Professional registration with ECSA
  • Project Management certification (e.g. PMP)
  • Contract management experience (NEC / FIDIC / JBCC)

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in civil infrastructure within mining brownfield project execution environments
  • Experience delivering SIB projects valued between ZAR 10 million and ZAR 500 million+
  • Strong background in design review and site-based construction support

Key Responsibilities

Scope Definition & Technical Assurance

  • Develop and validate civil scopes including roads, platforms, drainage, and water-retaining structures
  • Define design basis, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BoQs)
  • Ensure integration with multidisciplinary project requirements

Design Review & Optimization

  • Review and approve consultant designs
  • Ensure constructability within operational mining environments
  • Drive fit-for-purpose and cost-effective engineering solutions

Procurement & Contractor Support

  • Contribute to tender documentation and technical adjudication processes
  • Evaluate contractor capability against mining and safety requirements

Construction Oversight

  • Act as the client’s technical representative on site
  • Monitor construction quality, compliance, and project progress
  • Resolve technical queries and interface challenges during execution

Risk & Compliance Management

  • Identify and mitigate civil and geotechnical risks
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards
  • Support safe execution within live mining operational areas

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Serve as the technical interface between operations, consultants, and contractors
  • Align engineering delivery with production and operational requirements
