About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable companion and caregiver for a 27-year-old gentleman with high-functioning autism, who experiences periods of emotional distress. The role is primarily supportive and relational rather than intensive clinical care, focusing on providing calm, respectful companionship and emotional support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide calm, respectful companionship and emotional support
- Assist with routine structure and medication reminders
- Support de-escalation and calming during periods of distress
- Monitor wellbeing, including epilepsy awareness (seizures are infrequent)
- Offer overnight support when required, including occasional house-sitting
- Communicate effectively with family and healthcare professionals
Requirements
- Background in nursing, mental health, caregiving, or support work
- Experience with autism, mental health, or neurodivergent adults preferred
