- BSc in Quantity Surveying
- Minimum 5 years contractor-side experience
- Proven experience running large construction projects (R50m+)
- Strong working knowledge of: JBCC contracts, CCS Candy
Experience with:
- Subcontractor procurement
- Claims & variations
- Cost reporting to senior management
- Valid driver’s license
Personal Attributes
- Commercially strong
- Contractually astute
- Comfortable with accountability at director level
Key Responsibilities:
Project Commercial Management
Take ownership of project cost control from award to final account
Establish and maintain:
- Budgets
- Cash flows
- Forecasts
- Cost-to-complete
Produce monthly commercial reports for directors
Subcontractor & Procurement Control
Manage:
- Subcontractor procurement
- Tender adjudication
- Appointment and commercial terms
Approve subcontractors and commercial conditions
Negotiate rates, variations and final accounts
Payment & Certification Authority
- Review and sign off subcontractor payment certificates
- Control retention, materials on site and contra-charges
- Ensure payments align with progress and JBCC requirements
Claims, Variations & EOTs
Prepare and manage:
- Variations
- Delay and disruption claims
- Extension of Time cost impacts
Ensure all claims are contractually compliant and fully supported
JBCC Contract Administration
Maintain:
- Change registers
- Early warning notices
- Instruction logs
- Commercial correspondence
Protect the company’s contractual position at all times
Systems & Reporting
Use CCS Candy for:
- Cost control
- Valuations
- Forecasting
Reconcile Candy to site progress and accounting
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor Junior QS staff
- Review measurements, payment certificates and claim submission
