The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the financial operations of the business, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting and reporting functions. This position is ideal for a recently qualified CA(SA) with a strong academic record and some post-articles commercial experience who is ready to take on a challenging and rewarding finance management role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and review monthly accounting processes, reconciliations, and management accounts.

• Manage cash flow, investments, payments, and collections to maintain strong financial control.

• Prepare and analyse monthly management reports for senior leadership.

• Support the budgeting and forecasting process to ensure accurate financial planning.

• Ensure control accounts, balance sheets, and income statements are reconciled monthly.

• Prepare and submit VAT, income tax, and statutory returns (FSCA, Prudential Authority, Reserve Bank, SARS, NAMFISA).

• Compile annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.

• Liaise with internal and external auditors and ensure audit requirements are met.

• Review and strengthen internal financial systems, processes, and controls.

• Resolve reconciling and long-outstanding items on balance sheet accounts.

• Provide ad hoc financial insights and reporting support to management teams.

Requirements

• CA (SA) qualification (registered Chartered Accountant).

• Minimum 2 years post-articles experience.

• Stable career history demonstrating consistency and commitment.

• Experience outside of audit prior exposure to a commercial or corporate finance environment.

• Strong academic background, ideally with first-time board exam passes.

• Insurance industry experience (short-term, long-term, or brokerage) is advantageous.

• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with accounting software (Great Plains, SAP, or Accpac beneficial).

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Results-driven and able to manage deadlines effectively within a dynamic environment.
