About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Underwriter to join our team in Cape Town. As a key member of our underwriting department, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing quote requests from start to finish, contributing to the growth and profitability of the company through excellent service and relationship-building.
Key Responsibilities
- Sound knowledge of all engineering insurance policies
- Actively manage and oversee start to end each quote request
- Contribute to the growth and profitability of the Company by providing excellent service and maintaining relationships
- Manage and organize day to day operations by establishing priorities to ensure all quote requests are dealt with and maintain the standards of the underwriting department
- Knowledge of the Proposer (insured) Understand the risk and amount of probable claims
- Assess the risk of loss or damage
- Calculate the terms of the quote and which conditions are required
- Processing quotes on the policy management
- Facultative reinsurance & co-insurance placement
- Assist the Claims Department
- Liaising in a professional manner with brokers and other insurers
- Provide constructive feedback to brokers and management
- Respond to queries within 12 hours
- Work with different people internally and externally to improve service, efficiency, and improve presentation of information
- Actively build, improve and maintain relationships with all stakeholders, i.e. internally and externally
Requirements
- B. Sc Civil
- Prepared to study towards a full FAIS qualification
- Minimum of 2 years experience on construction sites
- Bilingual
- Good communicator (verbal & written)
- Must be a problem solver (able to assimilate large amounts of information and apply policy wording)
