A leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) in South Africas renewable energy sector is seeking an ICT Manager / HOD-level candidate to lead their technology transformation’s detailed technical architecture and design phases. Responsibilities: MSP Governance: Own the relationship with the MSP; review performance metrics, incident trends, risks, and root causes. Risk & Compliance: Ensure operational risks are visible and managed; oversee adherence to ICT policies, standards, and controls. Business Continuity: Partner with the MSP to oversee and periodically test disaster recovery and business continuity plans. Platform Growth: Identify opportunities to consolidate systems, reduce complexity, and optimize existing platforms (e.g., M365, security posture). Business Case Development: Partner with the MSP on change requests and build internal business cases for initiatives requiring additional budget. Scalability: Ensure ICT platforms scale effectively alongside Anthems expanding renewable energy portfolio. Roadmap Alignment: Collaborate with the OCIO, suppliers, and management to execute the technology roadmap. Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a unifying presence between internal stakeholders and outsourced partners to manage expectations and drive adoption. Change Governance: Maintain visibility over project dependencies, risks, and change impacts to minimize business disruption. Budgeting: Manage internal ICT budgets, renewals, license reconciliations, and vendor invoicing. Commercial Oversight: Support business cases for new enhancements and ensure vendor contracts remain fit-for-purpose as the business scales. Team Management: Lead the broader internal ICT team, directly managing the Digital Transformation Lead and IT Operations Lead. Reporting: Act as the internal face of ICT to EXCO, providing structured reporting on performance, risks, and strategic initiatives. Minimum Requirements: Education: Degree in Information Systems, Business, Technology, or a related field. Professional certifications (ITIL, PRINCE2, COBIT) are highly advantageous. Experience: 1015 years in ICT, with at least 5 years in a senior management role overseeing the overall IT function. Vendor & Project Management: Proven track record of governing MSPs, managing SLAs, and delivering ICT improvement initiatives. Industry Exposure: Experience in the Energy/Renewable Energy sector is highly advantageous. Vendor Governance: Ability to hold providers accountable, manage conflict constructively, and interpret MSP service desk reporting. Practical Security Literacy: Broad understanding of cyber risk drivers in an M365/cloud-first environment (identity, endpoint, data protection) to govern outcomes without needing hands-on administration. Financial Acumen: Strong capability to track technology spend, ROI, and manage budgets utilizing Microsoft Excel or advanced tools. Change & Risk Management: Experience coordinating IT audits, evidence gathering, change approvals, and root-cause analyses.
