About the Role

We are seeking a talented and innovative Sous Chef to join our 5-star hotel in Cape Town. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for driving creativity, quality, and consistency in our kitchen operations. If you’re passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences and leading a high-performing team, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing daily operations of kitchen staff (approx. 14)
  • Ongoing creation of innovative new menu items
  • Motivating, training and educating all kitchen staff
  • Considering the needs of the guests in all decisions
  • Ordering and purchasing ingredients and maintaining necessary inventory
  • Observing of all safety regulations to ensure employee safety and restaurant cleanliness
  • Ensuring guest satisfaction and seek feedback on menu items
  • Maintaining quality continually of the culinary product
  • Administrative duties related to staff and other management matters

Requirements

  • Grade 12 and a Formal Cheffing qualification
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a HEAD CHEF working in 5 star establishments or awarded restaurants
  • Proven culinary creativity and innovation
  • Strong decision making, organisation & leadership skills
  • Proven background in staff management and ability to recruit, train and motivate staff to ensure a satisfactory experience for all guests
  • Ability to consider the business aspects and cost control when creating new dishes
  • Precision and cleanliness
