About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join our team in the Cape Winelands region. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a procurement strategy that supports our sales goals, while ensuring profitability and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the sales team to develop, implement and manage the procurement strategy.
- Procure products according to pre-season plans and sales requirements.
- Coordinate with the sales team and suppliers to ensure availability against planned volumes.
- Source new suppliers and products that support the sales offering.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms.
- Manage packing material requirements.
- Identify, assess and onboard new growers to expand the supply base.
- Take responsibility for procurement profitability, cost control and margin optimisation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and new growers.
- Coordinate effectively between Product Coordinators and the Commercial Manager.
- Ensure all produce is packed and delivered according to plan.
- Confirm that packaging meets market requirements.
- Complete all supplier and product administration accurately and on time.
- Conduct quality assurance on farms, in packhouses and in cold rooms.
Requirements
- Grade 12 Related Diploma/Degree
- At least 5 years experience with table grapes – essential Procurement experience
- Advanced technical knowledge of table grapes (varietals, standards and post harvest handling)
