Job Description
About the Role
The Logistics and Operations Manager role at our company is a critical position responsible for managing and optimizing all logistics, servicing operations, and staff to ensure efficient service delivery, high customer satisfaction, cost control, and strong team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, Schedule, and oversee daily delivery, servicing, and collection of units
- Optimize routing to improve efficiency and reduce fuel and time costs
- Ensure all service level agreements are met
- Manage breakdowns, urgent requests, and operational issues promptly
- Monitor and improve operational KPI
- Lead, supervise, and motivate drivers, cleaners, and yard staff
- Conduct regular team meetings, training, and performance reviews
- Handle disciplinary processes, conflict resolution, and HR issues
- Build a positive, accountable, and safety-focused team culture
- Oversee fleet availability, maintenance, and servicing schedules
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance of units and vehicles
- Monitor operational costs (fuel, labour, maintenance) and manage overtime and staffing efficiency
- Report on cost per job, route efficiency, and overall profitability
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Operations or Supply Chain
- 5 years plus experience in logistics, operations, or fleet management
- Experience managing teams in labour-intensive environments
- Good communication and conflict management skills
- Financial awareness and cost control knowledge
- Knowledge of fleet and route management systems (advantageous)
