About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Marker Maker to join our team in Durban, responsible for creating patterns and modifying existing ones for new styles and samples. The successful candidate will also conduct quality control checks on production items and provide input into costings, particularly fabric rating.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create patterns for new styles and modify existing patterns as required for samples.
  • Conduct quality control checks on production items, with a specific focus on pattern issues.
  • Create markers for samples.
  • Provide input into costings, particularly fabric rating.
  • Make markers as per the production schedule for in-work and outwork.
  • Take full control of samples from start to finish, including liaising with sales to obtain all required information and monitoring sample hands for quality and performance.
  • Create BOMs for sample items and production.
  • Create buying lists for all production items.
  • Update the cutting schedule with current status.

Requirements

Proven experience in marker making within a garment manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of pattern making and grading.

Understanding of fabric consumption and costing principles.

Experience with CAD marker making software advantageous.

Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and style sheets.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work to tight deadlines within a fast-paced production environment.
