About the Role
Our client is a well-established and reputable engineering company based in the industrial hub of New Germany, Durban, known for fostering a supportive team environment and promoting continuous improvement. They are seeking a motivated, permanent CNC Lathe Setter to take charge of setting up and operating a KFM KT-200 CNC lathe.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and work instructions for accurate machine setup.
- Set up and operate CNC lathes, manually configuring tooling, fixtures, and offsets for varying production runs.
- Load CNC programs and make minor adjustments to optimise machine performance.
- Inspect finished components using calipers, micrometers, and gauges, ensuring all results are accurately documented.
- Monitor machines during operation to identify quality issues early and report any non-conforming parts.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and maintain machine cleanliness.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures.
- Assist the team with secondary operations, part sorting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven, hands-on experience working as a machine setter (essential requirement).
- Demonstrated experience with CNC lathe setup and operation (experience with KFM KT-200 is highly advantageous).
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
