Job Description

Our client, a well-established Express Breakbulk Road Freight company seeks a National Operations Manager, based in Johannesburg, to ensure the smooth operational running of branches within KZN, Mpumalanga and Gauteng.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure operational processes and procedures are implement in all aspects of operations
  • Manage operational targets across the business
  • Manage the Branch in Johannesburg
  • Oversee the operations for all 9 branches to ensure they meet their operational KPIs
  • Develop and lead direct reports to achieve objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal and statutory requirements and internationally accepted environmental, health, safety and quality standards.
  • Contribute to annual operational budget forecast
  • Take immediate action on non-compliance issues
  • Ensure the OHS and quality standards
  • Identify and timeously address functional related problems and opportunities
  • Ensure client relationships are maintained
  • Competitor analysis
  • Control expenses to assist with the GP of the branches
  • experience with unions nationally
  • Manage Employment Equity requirements in the branches.
  • Experience with Disciplinary Codes and Procedures

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Matric
  • Tertiary qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain (RAU qualifications very advantageous)
  • 10 Years experience in the Breakbulk Road Transport Industry
  • Min 8 Years experience in a Leadership and Operations Management Role
  • Experience in dealing with Unions essential
  • Fleet Management and mechanical knowledge required
