About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Head Chef to join our team at Cedar Wood Recruitment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the overall running of the kitchen department, with a focus on maintaining the highest standards of 5* dining experiences. Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the Head Chef in the overall running of the kitchen department
- Running the kitchen department in its entirety while the Head Chef is on leave/absent
- Training the sous chef in new ideas when it comes to the preparation of 5* standard meals
- Menu planning: bringing fresh, new ideas forward with regards to menus
- Producing meals of a 5* standard for lodge guests
- Menu planning for staff meals
- Orders/procurement for lodge food supplies
- Maintaining good communication skills within the team and with lodge food suppliers
- Ensuring the highest standards in the fine details of plating
Requirements
- Good understanding of computers: kitchen admin
- Good understanding of the lodge system
- Ability to produce meals of a 5* standard for lodge guests
- Strong leadership skills
- Proficient in staff training, stock taking, ordering, stock rotation, supervising, quality control

- Formal education/certifications not specified
Salary & Benefits
- R17 093.25 per annum (depending on experience)
- Excluding provident fund contribution or medical aid contribution (R1 471.67) and gratuities (tips)
- Work schedule: 36 days on, 12 days off
