About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Head Guide to join our team at a 5* Game Lodge based in Sabi Sands. As a senior member of staff, you will be responsible for leading under challenging circumstances and ensuring the delivery of exceptional guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Guiding guests
- Communicating daily with the General Manager regarding all camp guest and staff matters, daily operations, staff issues, vehicle issues and any shared staff service requirements
- Fostering a warm, welcoming, and relaxing atmosphere for all guests to maximise guest enjoyment
- Coordinating on-going training and unit standard maintenance of all rangers’ qualifications and certifications in conjunction with the Human Resources Manager and General Manager
- Assisting in any emergency in the field or at any of the camps
- Working with the Operations Manager on all ranger performance matters, safari policy implementation and standard operating procedures
Requirements
- Matric FGASA level 2 or higher
- First Aid level 2 (Minimum)
- Handle and use of a Manually Operated Rifle, shotgun, and Carbine for Business Purposes – SAQA ID 123519
- NDT registered
- Lead trails qualification
- Valid Advanced Rifle Handling qualification is essential
- Minimum 5 years of “Big 5” African Safari guiding experience
- Minimum 2 years of assistant head ranger or head ranger experience is essential
