Gauteng: Business Development Lead posted by Lexdan Select

Job Description

About the Role

As a Business Development Lead at Lexdan Select, you will be responsible for driving new business relationships within the mining and agricultural sectors, focusing on large-scale fuel users. You will spend most of your time in the field, visiting mine sites and farms primarily across Mpumalanga and the Northern Cape to identify operational pain points. Your goal is to educate clients on how our company’s technology enables compliance and audit-readiness by capturing granular data required for SARS diesel rebate claims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect and develop new business relationships within the mining and agricultural sectors, with a focus on large-scale fuel users.
  • Spend the majority of your time in the field, visiting mine sites and farms primarily across Mpumalanga and the Northern Cape to identify operational pain points.
  • Educate clients on how our company’s technology enables compliance and audit-readiness by capturing granular data required for SARS diesel rebate claims.
  • Identify Mining Right Owners — the legal beneficiaries of rebates — and build financial cases that support executive-level approval.
  • Promote our mobile refuelling service (“Petrol Station to Asset”), demonstrating how it reduces fleet downtime and eliminates bulk-tank shrinkage.
  • Manage a structured sales pipeline from initial outreach through to final procurement sign-off, navigating multi-stakeholder processes.
  • Work alongside the technical team to ensure hardware installations (fuel probes and tags) are aligned with each client’s operational requirements.
  • Maintain client relationships through the onboarding phase to ensure smooth implementation and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years’ experience in industrial, fuel, mining, or agriculture-related B2B sales.
  • Existing relationships within mining operations, large industrial businesses or large-scale agricultural businesses (non-negotiable).
  • Proven ability to open doors in traditional, hard-to-access industries and close deals independently.
  • Working knowledge of SARS diesel rebates, fuel reconciliation, and mining procurement processes advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to remote locations for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable own vehicle are essential.
