About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior IT Installer Technician to join our team at The Talent Room. As a key member of our installation and commissioning team, you will be responsible for installing and configuring computer hardware, servers, routers, switches, access points, and peripheral devices. You will also be required to install structured network cabling, mount and install network cabinets, racks, and related infrastructure, and configure and test network connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure computer hardware, servers, routers, switches, access points, and peripheral devices
- Install structured network cabling (CAT5e / CAT6), patch panels, and wall points
- Mount and install network cabinets, racks, and related infrastructure
- Configure and test network connectivity (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi)
- Install and configure printers, scanners, VoIP phones, and CCTV systems (where applicable)
- Install and configure operating systems and standard business software
- Assist with email, user account, and basic server setup
- Ensure systems are tested and fully operational before handover
- Diagnose and resolve installation-related faults
- Provide basic post-installation support and user guidance
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior technicians or engineers
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Relevant IT / Networking qualification or certification (A+, N+, IT Support, or similar)
- 1–3 years’ experience in an IT installation or technical field role
- Valid driver’s licence
- Willingness to travel and work on client sites
