About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic CFO to lead our finance function within a well-established insurance business. As a key member of the executive leadership team, you will drive financial strategy, regulatory compliance, capital management, and long-term business sustainability. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial leadership, ensuring compliance with IFRS, SAM, and the broader insurance regulatory framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to strategic business decisions
  • Provide financial insight to support product development, pricing, and growth initiatives
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic financial planning processes
  • Oversee accurate and compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
  • Ensure full compliance with IFRS (including IFRS 17 & IFRS 9), SAM, and insurance regulatory requirements
  • Manage capital adequacy, liquidity, and solvency within the SAM framework
  • Lead capital management initiatives and balance sheet optimisation strategies
  • Oversee treasury, tax, audit engagements, and funding relationships
  • Ensure strong governance frameworks, risk management practices, and internal controls
  • Collaborate closely with actuarial, compliance, risk, and audit functions
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team

Requirements

  • CA(SA) qualification (essential)
  • MBA or relevant Postgraduate qualification advantageous
  • Minimum 10 years senior financial management experience within the insurance sector
  • At least 5 years operating at a CFO or executive finance level
  • Strong experience within the insurance regulatory environment, including PA and FSCA engagement
