About the Role
A leading manufacturing company situated in Johannesburg, Gauteng is urgently seeking the expertise of an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their team of professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the physical assets under his/her control with regards to running order, preservation and increasing plant efficiency
- Supervising and planning the running of daily tasks of the plant mechanical section
- Ensuring smooth and efficient maintenance operation of Brakpan factory
- Ensuring good maintenance standards to minimise downtime and cost
- Recommending maintenance schedules for all equipment in the section and ensuring that these schedules are maintained
- Inspecting all sections of the plant frequently and assessing demands that will be made on the Engineering department, to action plans accordingly
- Doing fault finding on machines, and improving plant efficiency by optimising the available equipment
- Identifying improvements in the process that could be made by modifying or replacement of plant and bringing such information to the attention of management
- Generating reports from SAP PM for analysis as required by management
- Identifying and conducting training on mechanical systems, standards and best practice
- Maintaining a high standard of discipline and adherence to company procedures and required safety standards
- Ensuring that both he/she obeys safety regulations and observes safety precautions as laid down in the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act
- Leading project teams to ensure World Class Manufacturing (WCM) projects are completed timeously
- Preparing CAPEX applications for improvement projects
- Ensuring a clean and organised work environment in line with 5S
- Ensuring contractor compliance to all SGCP standards and procedures
- Informing plant management of all situations or conditions that could result in downtime and taking all such remedial action as is necessary to minimise downtime as a result thereof
- Negotiating, in the company’s interests, with suppliers of equipment and services, ensuring proper specifications are given to such suppliers, and that work done by such is of the required standard
- Performing other tasks as specified by the Engineering Manager
- Reporting of Safety and Environmental Incidents (TF 1-5, EVE) as required
Requirements
- BEng Mechanical
- Lean / WCM / TPM Qualification
- Management / Leadership qualification and advantage
- 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
- SAP ERP
- PM & EEM experience an advantage
