Job Description

The Medium Voltage Electrical Motor Stator & Rotor Carpenter is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, modification, and repair of wooden and non-metallic components used in medium voltage electric motor stators and rotors. This role supports motor manufacturing, refurbishment, and rewind operations by constructing precise fixtures, supports, blocking, bracing, and insulation-related structures in accordance with engineering drawings, quality standards, and safety requirements. Fabricate, assemble, and install wooden components used in stator and rotor construction, including: Coil supports, wedges, spacers, blocking, bracing, and insulation supports Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions related to motor stator and rotor assemblies Perform layout, cutting, shaping, drilling, and fitting of wood, laminated materials, phenolics, and insulation boards Assist with stator and rotor preparation for winding, rewinding, and final assembly Repair or replace damaged wooden or insulation components during motor refurbishment Ensure dimensional accuracy and proper fit of all fabricated components Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently Collaborate with winding, electrical, mechanical, and quality teams to meet production requirements Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety and housekeeping standards Follow all applicable safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements Required Skills and Competencies Strong carpentry skills with experience in precision fabrication Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings Knowledge of materials used in motor construction (hardwoods, laminates, insulation boards, phenolics) Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and shop machinery High attention to detail and quality workmanship Understanding of basic motor construction principles (stator, rotor, windings) Ability to work independently or as part of a team Good problem-solving and measurement skills Working Conditions Industrial shop environment Exposure to noise, dust, and machinery Standing, lifting, and manual handling of materials required Compliance with strict safety and quality standards Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to specified weight limits Manual dexterity for precise fabrication tasks Ability to stand for extended periods Overtime, nightshift when required High school Certificate Trade certification or vocational training in carpentry or a related field (preferred) 25 years of experience in industrial carpentry, electric motor manufacturing, or motor repair (preferred)
