About the Role
Network Finance is seeking a skilled Pre-Sales BESS Specialist to join our team in Johannesburg North. As a key member of our sales and engineering teams, you will provide technical pre-sales support for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) solutions, engaging with clients to understand their energy needs and proposing tailored storage solutions. You will design and develop conceptual and detailed BESS system configurations, conduct feasibility studies, energy modelling, and financial analysis, and support the sales team with technical presentations, proposals, and tender submissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical pre-sales support for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) solutions
- Engage with clients to understand energy needs and propose tailored storage solutions
- Design and develop conceptual and detailed BESS system configurations
- Conduct feasibility studies, energy modelling, and financial analysis (ROI, LCOE, payback)
- Support sales team with technical presentations, proposals, and tender submissions
- Liaise with OEMs, EPC contractors, and internal engineering teams
- Ensure compliance with grid codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Assist with cost estimation, system sizing, and equipment selection
- Stay up to date with market trends, technologies, and competitor offerings
- Provide technical input during project handover to execution teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3–7 years’ experience in renewable energy, with strong exposure to BESS or solar PV + storage
- Solid understanding of power systems, inverters, and energy storage technologies
- Experience with energy modelling tools (e.g., Homer, PVSyst, or similar)
- Knowledge of grid integration and utility-scale energy systems
- Strong client-facing and communication skills
