Job Description

One of Southern Africa’s largest privately-owned automotive parts retailer and wholesaler is seeking an IT Technician who will provide comprehensive hardware, software, and telephonic helpdesk support, troubleshooting, and repairs for users at the Service Centre and national branches.

Responsibilities:

  • Hardware & Software: Install, configure, and maintain PC hardware, Windows/Linux (Ubuntu) operating systems, and role-specific software.

  • Peripherals: Install, configure, and calibrate business printers; manage and maintain branch loan printers.

  • User Provisioning: Set up workstations and profiles for new and existing users.

  • Query Resolution: Provide telephonic and remote helpdesk support, resolving tickets logged via the Unibase system.

  • Domain Administration: Manage user accounts, including account creation, password resets, and unlocking profiles within Active Directory.

  • Email Management: Set up mail accounts and manage server queues (releasing or deleting large emails).

  • Connectivity: Monitor and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, ADSL, 3G, Wi-Fi, and VoIP issues; escalate complex network problems to the Network Administrator.

  • ERP Support: Troubleshoot branch connectivity issues related to the Unibase system and collaborate with Unibase consultants on ERP and printing errors.

  • Repairs: Ensure all hardware repairs are completed and shipped back to branches timeously.

  • Flexibility: Availability for ad-hoc weekend/after-hours work and travel to branches as required.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Education: Matric (Grade 12) essential; a relevant IT qualification is advantageous.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 3 years of relevant IT hardware support experience.

    • Minimum 2 years of telephonic/helpdesk support experience.

  • Technical Proficiency: Microsoft Active Directory, MS Office (Word, Excel), Unibase Emulator, and basic Linux/Windows OS administration.

  • Licensing: Valid Code 08 drivers license.
