Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join our team in Johannesburg, Newtown. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Pastel Payroll and Pastel Accounting (to trial balance) and will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of our staff management, training and labour brokering entity.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the full financial function, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Assist with oversight of the payroll and ensure compliance with relevant labour and tax regulations.
Maintain accurate financial records using Pastel Accounting and prepare accounts up to trial balance.
Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
Prepare and analyze financial reports for management decision-making.
Monitor cash flow, expenses, and financial risks.
Assist with audits, tax filings, and other regulatory financial processes.
Work closely with senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations.
Handle financial reconciliations and ensure timely payments and invoicing.

Requirements

Relevant qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Proven experience in financial management within the broader hospitality, entertainment, casino industries is advantageous.

Proficiency in Pastel Payroll and Pastel Accounting (to trial balance) is essential.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong communication skills and ability to report effectively to management.
