About the Role
The Senior IT Manager – Telecoms is a critical role that requires full accountability for enterprise applications, IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, data governance, cybersecurity, and IT service delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and executing a 35-year enterprise IT strategy, aligning with corporate and commercial objectives, and establishing governance frameworks aligned to ISO, ITIL, and best practice standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute a 35-year enterprise IT strategy
- Align IT roadmap with corporate and commercial objectives
- Establish governance frameworks aligned to ISO, ITIL, and best practice standards
- Act as the custodian of enterprise architecture and standards
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of all enterprise applications
- Ensure tight integration between ITSM / workflow platforms (ServiceNow), ERP systems (Sage 300), collaboration and identity platforms (Google Workspace), cloud data and application platforms (Azure)
- Drive automation and digitisation of business processes
- Ensure data consistency and integrity across systems
- Architect and manage enterprise workloads on Azure: Virtual machines and application hosting
- Secure connectivity and services
- Ensure high availability, resilience, and disaster recovery capability
- Optimise cloud cost, performance, and scalability
- Own enterprise IT service delivery across all business units
- Establish and maintain SLAs / OLAs Incident, problem, and change management processes (via ServiceNow)
- Ensure consistent, reliable end-user experience
- Oversee collaboration tools, endpoints, and user support services
- Define and enforce enterprise cybersecurity strategy: Identity and access management Endpoint and cloud security Data protection and governance
- Ensure compliance with POPIA Internal security policies Industry best practices (ISO 27001 aligned) Lead incident response and ongoing risk management
- Establish enterprise-wide data governance frameworks Enable reporting and analytics across Financial performance Operational efficiency Customer and service metrics
- Leverage Azure for: Data platforms and warehousing Business intelligence and reporting Ensure a single source of truth across systems
- Manage key technology vendors and partners: Microsoft (Azure) Google (Workspace) ServiceNow Sage ecosystem partners Negotiate contracts and optimise licensing models
- Own enterprise IT budgets (CAPEX and OPEX) Drive cost optimisation across Cloud usage Licensing Support and services Provide ROI-based justification for all major IT investments
Requirements
- Experience in IT / enterprise systems leadership
- Experience in mid-sized enterprise or technology-driven environments
- Proven track record managing multi-platform enterprise ecosystems
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure architecture and operations
- ServiceNow (ITSM and workflow automation) Google Workspace administration and security Sage 300 or equivalent ERP systems
- Understanding of API integration and middleware Identity management (SSO, IAM)
- Cybersecurity frameworks Leadership and business skills
Qualifications
- Degree in IT, Computer Science, or Engineering
- Certifications (advantageous): Azure Architect / Administrator ITIL CISSP or equivalent security certifications
