About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trade Assistant to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our front office, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate risk management, P&L reporting, and trade position maintenance. Your exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams will be essential in driving business success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily liaison with front office traders to understand risks and ensure accurate P&L reporting
  • Key point of contact for front office traders to resolve any queries
  • Maintaining daily pricing schedules as well as positions
  • Month end P&L reporting including commentaries
  • Monthly reporting between commercial and finance teams
  • Liaising with middle office and risk on monthly P&L
  • Continuous improvements around existing process
  • Analysing daily reports on inventory valuations, creditors, and accruals
  • Liaising with internal finance and traffic departments
  • Budgeting and cashflow forecasting
  • Reporting of trade positions
  • Drafting commercial contracts and related trade documents

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of work experience in a similar role or field
  • Knowledge/understanding of Commodity Trading
  • Personal & Professional Competencies:
  • Critical thinking skills with precision and attention to detail
  • Teamwork within a distributed global team ability and desire to help teammates
  • Business skills working directly with commercial, and back-office staff
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to learn quickly and retain knowledge
  • Hands-on mentality, solution-minded, and determined to get to the root of the issue through strong analytical thinking skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
