About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Conservation Manager to join our team in Mbombela/Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing conservation efforts in a Big 5 conservation area, with a strong focus on veld management, ecological restoration, and wildlife management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage conservation efforts in a Big 5 conservation area
- Oversee veld management, ecological restoration, and research programs
- Develop and implement annual work plans and submit reports to stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements for protected area management
- Conduct ecological research and data analysis
- Collaborate with teams to achieve conservation goals
Requirements
- Master’s degree in applied ecology, environmental science, or conservation biology (related field)
- PhD an advantage
- 8+ years of experience in conservation management (similar position)
- Experience in veld management, ecological restoration, research programs, and wildlife management
- Strong knowledge of South African ecosystems and biodiversity
- Solid grasp of statutory requirements for protected area management
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications: Master’s degree in applied ecology, environmental science, or conservation biology (related field)
Salary & Benefits
Market-related salary package depending on candidate experience and qualifications. Plus onsite accommodation in Sabi Sands.
