About the Role
Phakisa Holdings is seeking a skilled Safety Officer to join our operations team on a contractor basis. As a key member of our safety management team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and project-specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and project-specific requirements
- Inspect scaffolding structures, facilitate risk assessments, and monitor contractor performance
- Lead proactive health and safety initiatives related to work at height
- Coordinate scaffolding teams, facilitate safety briefings, and deliver scaffold user awareness training
- Conduct incident investigations, prepare reports with root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Maintain safety files and documentation, ensuring compliance and audit readiness
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 required
- Minimum 3-5 years in health and safety, preferably overseeing scaffolding operations in high-risk sectors
- Strong understanding of working at heights and fall protection systems
- Experience with different types of scaffolding and load capacity checks
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and ISO 45001 implementation
