About the Role
A leading Agricultural Export company is seeking an experienced Air Freight Controller to join their team in Paarl. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in the perishable industry and a proactive approach to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end air freight export process, ensuring all shipments are handled efficiently from origin to destination.
- Proactively book cargo space with freight forwarders and airlines to meet export deadlines.
- Accurately prepare and process essential export documents, including customs invoices, phytosanitary certificates, and airway bills.
- Issue clear and precise loading instructions to cold stores and transport providers to ensure product integrity.
- Track cargo status in real-time and provide regular updates to internal teams and international clients regarding arrival times or delays.
- Capture and maintain accurate shipment data within the company’s internal systems to ensure seamless reporting.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with freight forwarders, clearing agents, and cold store personnel to optimize the supply chain.
- Ensure that all air freight operations comply with industry regulations and specific customer requirements for perishable goods.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in air freight coordination, specifically within the perishable or agricultural industry.
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- In-depth understanding of export documentation, customs regulations, and phytosanitary requirements.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
