About the Role

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our 5-star boutique hotel and spa in Plettenberg Bay. As a hands-on, people-focused leader, you will drive operational excellence while nurturing a strong team culture and delivering a refined, personalised guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full Hotel Operations Management
  • Oversee all departments and daily hotel operations
  • Ensure seamless coordination across FOH, F&B, Housekeeping, Spa, and Maintenance
  • Maintain consistent 5-star service delivery across all guest touchpoints
  • Financial Management
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Drive cost control and operational efficiency
  • Ensure financial targets and performance metrics are met
  • HR & Leadership
  • Lead recruitment, training, performance management, and staff development
  • Build and maintain a motivated, high-performing team culture
  • Ensure compliance with HR legislation and best practices
  • Guest & Stakeholder Relations
  • Host VIP guests, agents, media, and key stakeholders
  • Build strong relationships with guests, staff, suppliers, and community partners
  • Drive guest satisfaction and continuous service improvement
  • Operational Excellence & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sustainability standards
  • Maintain hotel assets and operational equipment
  • Uphold company values, culture, and brand standards

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a General Manager or senior hotel management role in luxury boutique hospitality
  • Hospitality or tourism qualification
  • Strong financial acumen (budgeting, forecasting, cost control)
  • Proven leadership and team development ability
  • Strong HR knowledge and practical application
  • Experience hosting VIP guests and industry stakeholders
  • Understanding of sustainability in hospitality
  • Computer literate with strong administrative skills
  • Valid PrDP
