About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead the kitchen of a luxury safari lodge in the Kruger National Park. The ideal candidate will thrive in a remote, high-end environment and deliver exceptional, refined dining experiences for discerning safari guests.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee all kitchen operations and food production
• Ensure smooth daily service across all meal periods
• Maintain consistent culinary excellence and efficiency
• Design and implement innovative, seasonal, high-quality menus
• Align food offering with luxury lodge standards and guest expectations
• Continuously refine menus to enhance guest dining experiences
• Lead, train, and develop the kitchen brigade
• Maintain strong team performance and discipline
• Foster a positive, efficient and high-standard kitchen culture
• Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards
• Ensure full compliance with all kitchen operational regulations
• Monitor food costs and ensure efficient kitchen budgeting
• Minimise waste while maintaining quality standards
• Work closely with management to enhance the overall dining experience
• Ensure consistent presentation, quality, and guest satisfaction
Requirements
Proven experience as Head Chef in luxury lodge or fine dining environment
Strong leadership and kitchen management skills
Excellent culinary ability with fine dining focus
Strong organisational and stock control skills
Ability to perform under pressure in a remote bush environment
Solid knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
Passion for hospitality and guest satisfaction
Stable work history with contactable references
