About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Clearwater store is seeking a Dispensary Support to join our team. This fixed-term position will equip learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a registered Basic Pharmacist Assistant, allowing them to work under the supervision of a pharmacist in a pharmacy setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances.
- Help with compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to approved formulas and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Unpack and merchandise stock, clean dispensary and OTC shelves as approved by the responsible pharmacist.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Dispensary Manager.
- Accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner within legal requirements.
- Check medication for accuracy and be aware of common dosages and important drug interactions.
- Assist with controlling stock, managing cleanliness and packing organisation of shelves and medicine expiry dates.
- Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports as requested by the Dispensary Manager.
- Assist with call centre scripts and patient service telephone calls.
- Provide information to individuals to promote health.
- Authorise scheme medication for chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication.
- Report on low/out of stock levels and stock errors to the Dispensary Manager.
- Receive dispensary stock in accordance with SOP set out by the company.
Requirements
- Grade 12 Matric or a Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics 50%, Life Science and/or Physical Science obtained at least an average of 50%.
- Completed proficiency test approving registration with Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a learner basic assistant.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English and one other language.
