About the Role

We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Assistant General Manager to join our luxury private island resort in Zanzibar. As a key member of our senior management team, you will work closely with the General Manager to deliver world-class guest experiences, drive operational excellence, and support strategic planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager with all operational and strategic responsibilities
  • Support staff training, development, and performance management initiatives
  • Oversee budget management (OPEX & CAPEX) and operational planning
  • Manage uniform orders and bi-annual procurement processes
  • Maintain and update operational task lists and product standards
  • Oversee projects and supplier relationships where required
  • Lead and manage social media and PR-related communication
  • Support daily operations including guest interactions, check-ins, and allocations
  • Oversee housekeeping, butler services, and kitchen coordination
  • Assist with daily administration and weekly/monthly reporting
  • Liaise with regional support teams and stakeholders
  • Support conservation and community development initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with government and partner organisations
  • Participate in strategic and departmental meetings
  • Support HR functions including performance management, staff files, contracts, and disciplinary processes
  • Assist with industrial relations matters and ensure compliance
  • Submit monthly HR reports timeously

Requirements

Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management

34 years of experience in a similar senior hospitality role

Strong computer literacy

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

Solid understanding of hotel operations and luxury guest service standards
