About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Charter Manager to join our dynamic commercial team at MECS Africa. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing existing charter contracts, identifying new opportunities, and driving business growth. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee existing charter contracts, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
  • Identify and secure new charter opportunities, particularly within the corporate and resource sectors.
  • Develop tailored charter solutions for corporate and government clients.
  • Negotiate and finalise commercial agreements and partnership opportunities.
  • Monitor contract profitability, operational performance, and associated risks.
  • Conduct market research to identify industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities.
  • Oversee the delivery of charter services, ensuring schedules, logistics, and customer expectations are consistently achieved.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Ground Services, Maintenance, Finance, and Commercial teams to ensure service excellence.
  • Drive initiatives to improve efficiency, on-time performance, and overall client satisfaction.
  • Prepare and present regular performance and contract reports to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Business or a related discipline.
  • 5–10 years’ experience in charter operations, contract management, business development, or a similar aviation role.
  • Proven ability to manage and negotiate complex commercial contracts.
  • Strong understanding of aviation regulations, compliance requirements, and operational standards.
  • Demonstrated success in developing business opportunities and building strategic partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Experience within Papua New Guinea or other emerging market environments will be advantageous.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance profitability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
