South Africa: Semi Skilled Trailer Technician

Minimum Requirements: Matric / Grade 10 minimum (N3 Mechanical advantageous) Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a trailer or heavy-vehicle maintenance environment Basic knowledge of: Trailer brakes & suspension systems Axles, wheel bearings, and hubs Electrical systems (12V/24V) Welding/cutting tools Valid driver’s licence (Code 10/EC advantageous) Experience in a transport/logistics workshop is beneficial Mechanical aptitude & problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities: Assist with routine maintenance and repairs on trailers (flat-deck, tautliner, tanker, super-link, etc.) Perform brake adjustments, wheel bearing checks, suspension component checks, and minor repairs Assist with air-brake system repairs and fault finding under supervision Replace lights, wiring, reflectors, and basic electrical trailer components Conduct tyre checks, tyre changes, and wheel torquing Assist with welding and fabrication work (basic MIG/Arc welding skills an advantage) Conduct trailer inspections and report defects Maintain a clean and safe work environment and tools Follow workshop safety, PPE, and operational procedures Complete job cards and assist with service records Support qualified mechanics with major repairs when required.
