About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Trailer Technician to join our team in South Africa. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in trailer and heavy-vehicle maintenance, with a strong foundation in mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with routine maintenance and repairs on trailers (flat-deck, tautliner, tanker, super-link, etc.)
- Perform brake adjustments, wheel bearing checks, suspension component checks, and minor repairs
- Assist with air-brake system repairs and fault finding under supervision
- Replace lights, wiring, reflectors, and basic electrical trailer components
- Conduct tyre checks, tyre changes, and wheel torquing
- Assist with welding and fabrication work (basic MIG/Arc welding skills an advantage)
- Conduct trailer inspections and report defects
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and tools
- Follow workshop safety, PPE, and operational procedures
- Complete job cards and assist with service records
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 10 minimum
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a trailer or heavy-vehicle maintenance environment
- Basic knowledge of: Trailer brakes & suspension systems, Axles, wheel bearings, and hubs, Electrical systems (12V/24V)
- Valid driver’s licence (Code 10/EC advantageous)
Qualifications
- N3 Mechanical advantageous (if applicable)
