About the Role
A well-known and established financial institution is seeking a Senior Financial Planner (Estate and Trust Specialist) to lead advanced estate planning strategies, ensuring optimal tax-efficient structuring of client portfolios while maintaining governance, compliance, and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee consolidation and validation of all policies and investments.
- Lead the development of complex estate planning strategies, including trusts, tax-efficient structures, and cross-border considerations.
- Review, validate, and sign off on estate and risk analyses prepared by FinancialPlanners.
- Provide expert advice on estate duty, capital gains tax, income tax, and fiduciary implications.
- Design and implement optimal structuring solutions aligned to client financial objectives.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of estate planning frameworks and advisory methodologies.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with estate structures and financial planning solutions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (Estate Duty Act, Income Tax Act, Trust Property Control Act).
- Provide technical approval on complex estate planning structures and recommendations.
- Act as subject matter expert in estate and fiduciary planning across the business.
Requirements
Advanced knowledge of estate planning, fiduciary law, and tax legislation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strategic thinking and sound judgement. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders. High attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel).
Qualifications
- A relevant financial qualification (e.g., BCom in Finance, Accounting, or LLB degree).
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning and registration as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) is required.
- An Advanced Diploma in Estate Planning is required.
