Job Description

Location:
Maruleng Local Municipality, Limpopo Province, South Africa

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in vegetable farming or crop production
  • Experience with open-field vegetable farming
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems, particularly drip irrigation (pivot systems advantageous)
  • Experience operating farm machinery, including tractors, TLBs, and farming implements
  • Strong labour management and supervisory skills
  • Ability to coordinate land preparation, planting, spraying, and harvesting activities
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Willingness to live on the farm
  • Agricultural qualification advantageous but not essential

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily vegetable farming operations on a large-scale open-field farm
  • Supervise and coordinate a workforce of 10–100 farm workers, including seasonal labour
  • Plan and oversee land preparation, irrigation, spraying, and harvesting activities
  • Monitor crop health, pest control, and general crop management practices
  • Manage and operate farm machinery and implements, including tractors and TLB equipment
  • Oversee irrigation systems, primarily drip irrigation, ensuring efficient water management
  • Maintain productivity and ensure farming activities are completed according to schedule
  • Report directly to the Managing Director on farm progress and operational performance
