About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Sommelier to join our luxury safari lodge in Sabi Sands, South Africa. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for curating and delivering a bespoke, world-class wine experience that exceeds our guests’ expectations. With a focus on personalised service, cellar management, and maintaining the highest standards of wine presentation and stock control, this role offers a unique opportunity to combine your passion for wine with exceptional hospitality skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a consistent and bespoke wine experience for all guests
  • Pair wines according to menus and individual guest preferences
  • Host wine tastings and curated wine experiences
  • Provide expert wine recommendations with confidence and finesse
  • Host repeat and VIP guests with ease and adaptability
  • Manage full cellar stock control and inventory systems
  • Oversee bulk wine facilities and replenishment processes
  • Physically transfer and distribute wine across lodge cellars
  • Maintain accurate stock tracking and reporting
  • Handle wine sales, invoicing, stock control, and related administration
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting procedures
  • Maintain compliance with SOPs and operational standards
  • Liaise with finance and operational teams where required

Requirements

  • Sommelier qualification (Cape Wine Diploma or equivalent)
  • WSET Level 3 essential
  • Strong knowledge of international wines
  • Minimum 3 years experience in luxury hospitality or guest-facing service
  • Strong computer literacy (MS Office required)
  • Excellent email etiquette and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
