Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Quality Manager to join their team in Thabazimbi, Limpopo. The successful candidate will oversee quality control operations and ensure the highest standards of product quality in a cement manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong background in cement manufacturing processes and quality standards. The Quality Manager will play a critical role in ensuring that all deliverables meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals by developing, implementing, and managing quality assurance systems and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective Quality Management System that aligns with international standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and manage the internal quality control process for cement production.
- Oversee testing of raw materials, in-process production, and final products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to continuously improve manufacturing processes, reducing defects, waste, and variation.
- Ensure adherence to local and international quality regulations, and prepare for internal and external audits.
- Address customer complaints related to product quality by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions in collaboration with the production team.
- Work with procurement and supply chain teams to evaluate and monitor the quality of raw materials and suppliers.
- Identify inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and productivity.
- Develop and implement risk assessment protocols to prevent defects, reduce errors, and address non-conformances proactively.
- Lead and train quality assurance teams to maintain high performance and up-to-date knowledge of quality standards.
- Act as a liaison between the organization and customers, addressing quality-related concerns to ensure customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Grade 12.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry or a related field, non-negotiable. A professional certification in Quality Management is advantageous.
- Minimum 10 + years Experience in the Cement industry
- Strong understanding of cement production processes and quality standards.
- Familiarity with ISO standards, SANS cement testing methods, SABS requirements, NRCS requirements, and industry best practices.
- Proven experience managing and leading cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to implement corrective and preventive actions effectively.
- Proficiency in quality control tools, statistical analysis software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and present findings to senior management.
- Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
- In-depth understanding of cement manufacturing processes.
- Strong background in Chemistry and Cement Chemistry (advantageous).
- Physical fitness to perform job duties.
