Job Description
This opportunity is with a well-established and fast-paced business based in Milnerton, Cape Town, offering a hybrid working model (3 days in-office, 2 days remote). This role is ideal for a dynamic finance professional who enjoys being deeply involved in operations while leading from the front.
As the Shared Services Controller, you will take ownership of the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, acting as the team leader of team leaders. You will oversee the full shared services environment, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement across processes.
This is not a purely strategic role — you will be highly operational, involved in day-to-day activities, administration, and problem-solving. You will engage with stakeholders, jump into meetings, and actively contribute to adding value across the business.
The environment is high-energy and personality-driven, requiring someone who is confident yet collaborative. The ideal individual will lead effectively without being overly authoritative, working alongside the team to drive results. A strong focus on process improvement, SOP implementation, and automation (including API integrations) will be key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the full Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions
- Lead and support team leaders, ensuring performance and delivery across shared services
- Drive operational involvement in daily finance activities, including administration and issue resolution
- Develop, implement, and improve SOPs and financial processes
- Identify and implement automation opportunities, including API integrations
- Participate in meetings with stakeholders, adding value and improving efficiencies
- Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery across all shared services functions
Job Experience and Skills Required:
Education:
- BCom in Accounting or Finance
Experience:
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a shared services / finance environment
- Proven experience managing teams, ideally team leaders or supervisors
- Strong exposure to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions
- Experience with process improvement, SOP development, and automation
Skills:
- Strong Excel and systems skills
- Hands-on, operational mindset
- Strong leadership ability with a collaborative approach
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Process-driven with a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement
Non-negotiables:
- Must be willing to work in a hybrid setup (Milnerton-based)
- Must be comfortable being operationally involved (not purely strategic)
- Ability to lead without being overly authoritative and work closely with the team
