A leading South African FMCG business, specialising in the development, marketing, distribution, and growth of snack, confectionery, grocery, beverage, and convenience meal brands across Southern Africa, is seeking an experienced and highly analytical Sales Operations Manager to support and optimise national sales performance across multiple retail channels. This role is ideal for a commercially focused operations professional with strong FMCG experience, exceptional reporting and analytical capability, and a solid understanding of sales processes, retail operations, forecasting, and team performance management. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving operational efficiency, supporting the sales team, and ensuring accurate sales planning and execution across key retail accounts. Key Responsibilities Manage and optimise daily sales operations across national retail and distribution channels Support the sales team with reporting, forecasting, sales analysis, and operational planning Develop and maintain accurate sales dashboards, KPI tracking, and performance reports Analyse sales trends, customer performance, margins, and market data to support strategic decision-making Work closely with Key Account Managers, supply chain, finance, marketing, and operations teams to improve sales effectiveness Monitor stock availability, order fulfilment, and service levels to ensure operational efficiency Assist with demand planning, sales forecasting, and promotional planning Improve sales processes, systems, and workflows to increase productivity and efficiency Coordinate sales administration, pricing updates, customer information, and trade agreements Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with company processes and procedures Support management with strategic projects, presentations, and business reviews Lead and mentor sales support and administration staff where applicable Minimum Requirements Proven experience in Sales Operations, Commercial Operations, or Sales Support Management within the FMCG industry Strong understanding of FMCG retail environments and distribution operations Experience working with major South African retailers including Pick n Pay, SPAR, Checkers, Shoprite, Woolworths, and similar groups advantageous Strong analytical and reporting skills Advanced Microsoft Excel skills essential Experience working with ERP, CRM, and sales reporting systems Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain, or related field advantageous Key Attributes Highly analytical and detail orientated Commercially aware and results-driven Process-focused with strong operational capability Proactive and solution orientated Strong leadership and team collaboration skills Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines Professional, organised, and adaptable
