About the Role

Zeebra Junction Specialist Recruitment is seeking an experienced Factory Manager / Works Manager to oversee our very large sugar complex on one of the largest sugar estates/factory plants in Africa. The sugar factory has been expanded steadily and is currently operating at a crushing capacity of 7,500 Tons Cane per Day (TCD) during a 10.5-month crushing season. It generates 50MW and 30MW of power, with 30MW exported to the national grid. In addition to sugar and power produced, the group has a distillery that produces 65,000 litres of rectified spirits daily, and a small confectionery factory producing a variety of sweets and toffees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer Sugar factory, warehousing processes, and safety protocols according to existing guidelines and procedures in order to comply with the company’s objectives.
  • Day-to-day operations of the Sugar complex.
  • Supervise the production process (including mill operation) in order to comply with production requirements.
  • Supervise the factory maintenance plan in order to prevent operations disruption.
  • Control and analyze KPIs and reports for decision-making.
  • Propose and supervise process improvements as needed in the Factory to improve operational efficiency.
  • Supervise work safety plans in order to comply with company procedures and government regulations.
  • Establish annual targets for factory operations and achieving them.

Requirements

  • Experience as a General Manager Sugar Manufacturing Plant and sub-departments.
  • Experience as a Factory Manager/Works manager Sugar manufacturing plant.
  • Experience as a Process/Production Manager.
  • Engineering Manager preferable Mechanical engineering/Chemical engineering.
  • Milling experience.
  • Boilers management.
  • Distilling management.
  • Experience of co-generation.
  • Power generation.
  • Candidate will be reporting in to the GM/Business Head.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering graduate (or Similar) / a sugar technologist, with a minimum of +/- 20 years of similar experience in a sugar manufacturing unit.
